Our Story
"Welcome to Kenosis Café! I’m Thomas Hoffman, chef and owner, and I’m proud to call Chico my hometown. Growing up here shaped my love for food and community, and after attending Pleasant Valley High School’s culinary program, I followed my passion to Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco. Since then, I’ve been blessed to work in restaurants across Chico, San Francisco, and even the Big Island of Hawaii, designing menus, crafting flavors, and creating food that brings people together.
The heart of Kenosis Café reflects the meaning of ‘kenosis”, to pour oneself out in love for others, just as Christ Jesus did. I believe food is more than just nourishment; it’s a way to share love, inspire connection, and create moments of joy. Whether it’s through a much-needed cup of coffee or a hearty meal, Kenosis Café exists to serve the needs of our community, offering a space for pleased palates, smiling faces, and happy hearts.
As a professional chef, small business owner, and father of 5 year old Twin Boy and Girl, I am someone who knows the importance of caffeine and good food.
